Project Manger - Capital Works
Ventia is seeking a Project Manager to join our Transport Infrastructure team in Wellington, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of capital works on the Transmission Gully motorway—a 24/7 operational environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role plays a key part in ensuring the safe, high-quality delivery of Capital works on the Transmission Gully motorway, in close partnership with NZTA.
You’ll lead the planning, pricing, and execution of project variations, ensuring safety, customer focus, and operational excellence remain at the forefront.
Key Responsibilities
- Scope, plan, and close out tasks to support effective Capital Works delivery
- Price and manage Capital Works variations in collaboration with NZTA
- Oversee subcontractors and ensure safe, quality delivery
- Manage financial and commercial aspects of project variations
- Maintain systems like VenSafe and VisRes for compliance
- Act as Duty Manager as part of an on-call roster
- Run and support toolbox talks
- Drive SHEQ and risk management performance
ABOUT YOU
You’re an experience civil construction professional with a strong background in infrastructure delivery and a passion for safety, quality, and innovation.
You’re confident leading teams, managing stakeholders, and delivery complex works to a high standard.
You’ll bring:
- Solid experience in civil construction and design
- Teritiary engineering qualification (BE/NZCE)
- Class 1 Driver’s licence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven understanding of industry standards, codes, and construction practices.
- STMS Inspector (or working towards certification)
- High competency with MS Office and platforms like SharePoint
